Laptop - ASUS Vivobook 15 - P1504CZ. I accidentally plugged in a generic USB-C 65W charger, instead of the dedicated DC 45W, into a laptop with dead battery. Was working fine before the battery died. A pop could be heard and burning smell followed. After unplugging the battery, plugging in the correct, genuine DC charger caused a small plume of smoke to raise from the area around the USB-C Port. I later checked that this laptop doesn't support USB-C charging. I took the laptop apart to check for faults with a multimeter, but I wasn't able to find an obvious problem. Laptop is currently disassembled, the motherboard taken out and completely disconnected.
